Introduction:

Intermediate alloy is a specialized alloy in which one or several elemental components are added to a base metal to address issues such as high burning loss, high melting point, density-induced segregation, or to enhance other alloy properties. It serves as an additive-type functional material.

Magnesium-based intermediate alloys consist of magnesium as the base metal with the addition of other elements. They are used as additives in both cast magnesium alloys and wrought magnesium alloys.

Aluminum-based intermediate alloys are primarily employed to adjust the composition of molten aluminum for a long time. These products involve creating intermediate compounds with higher-melting metal elements through melting processes. These intermediate compounds significantly lower the melting temperature, enabling the introduction of higher-melting metal elements into the aluminum melt at lower temperatures and adjusting the elemental content of the melt.

 Usage and Protocols:

A、Calculate the required amount of intermediate alloy for preparing the total melt volume based on the control standards for elements in the melt and the required amount of the intermediate alloy components based on composition.

B、Typically, the intermediate alloy used for composition adjustment is added to the furnace along with the charge materials. It is evenly distributed within the furnace burden.

C、After the mixture has completely melted, thoroughly stir it and collect samples for analysis.

Ingot Analysis:

A、The size and dimensions of the alloy ingot may vary depending on the specific product, and it is recommended to consult with the technical personnel.

B、Chemical Analysis: Take a random sample from the alloy ingot, drill three points along the diagonal of the ingot's surface (polished side), mix them, and then proceed with appropriate analytical protocols.
